Uche Fuels Straightforward Palace Win at Shelbourne.
Despite entering their first-ever European adventure, Oliver Glasner's side are adapting very quickly. Missing star players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a commanding result that virtually secures them a spot in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.
A further three points in their next fixture against Finnish KuPS should be enough to secure direct entry to the last 16, especially after a previous setback against Strasbourg.
Squad Members Grasp the Moment
This occasion offered a platform for some of Palace's fringe talent to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second start after joining on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a well-taken goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, finding the net for the second consecutive match.
A Shelbourne team that had concluded their domestic season were outmatched even for a mostly second-string Palace lineup. The Londoners were further weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with knee problems.
Dominance Asserted from the Start
In spite of heavy rain in Dublin, Palace quickly established dominance. A slick passing sequence in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, let Nketiah to set up Uche for a simple finish.
Midfielder Adam Wharton went close soon after, driving a powerful shot over the bar. Nketiah subsequently appealed for a penalty after bursting into the box, but the official dismissed the protests.
Ex-Arsenal man did not have wait long to get his goal, tapping home from close range after Uche's effort had struck the post.
Shelbourne were clinging on for dear life. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to escape a booking for two agricultural tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a powerful header from a corner.

The match was as good as over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past some weak challenges before coolly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.
Following the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest key players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring his first touch, but saw his effort blocked.
The youngster was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche then missed a glaring chance, showing there is still room for development in his game.
The only concern for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect evening for the traveling side.
